Earlier this month, Acer took everybody by surprise and announced the release of a number of new computer systems, including their highly anticipated NVIDIA Ion-based Aspire Revo. Designed as a low-power, low-cost desktop computer system, the Aspire Revo combines Intel's Atom processor with a GeForce 9400M graphics chip to deliver a balance between performance and power consumption, in a package that can seriously
compete with other nettops on the market. It now appears the UK fans of the new system will be among the first to get Acer's nettop, as it has just been made available for pre-order.

According to online retailer play.com, the Aspire Revo will be available for prices ranging between £179.99 and £329.99, depending on the system's configuration and bundle. Although it's now available for pre-order, users will have to wait until May 18 before having a chance to take advantage of the computing capabilities of this small PC.

The lowest-priced model comes equipped with an Intel Atom N230 processor, clocked at 1.6GHz, and coupled with 1GB of RAM memory, and an 8GB SSD running a Linux-based operating system. For £249.99, you can upgrade to 2GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive and a Windows Vista operating system. For “just” £299.99 you will get the same performance configuration, but with a bundled 3D Game controller, enabling you to take advantage of yet another feature of the Aspire Revo. The highest-priced model also bundles a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Unfortunately, at this time we have no details regarding the availability of the Aspire Revo in some other parts of the world, although we assume it will be around on the same date as in the UK. Hopefully, by that time we should also read some of the first reviews of the system, which will provide us with a more in-depth perspective as to what to expect from the Aspire Revo, especially from that 3D Game controller.
