Ask, the famous developer of search software has just announced the availability of its Ask.com Android application.

Even though it dropped its search operations, the company seems to be focused on delivering its Q&A-centric platform to multiple mobile platforms.

Initially launched for iPhone, the company's Q&A app quickly became one of the most popular in its category with more than 1 million downloads.

Today, Ask is bringing its Q&A platform to Google's Android operating system, as one of few applications that integrate Q&A-focused web search with timely answers from real people.

We have placed a big bet on mobile as part of our growth strategy, and it's paying off with four times the answer rate as our site users. Over the last three quarters there was triple digit growth in traffic from smartphones to the Ask.com mobile site, and 60% of that was Android. To win in mobile, you must win on Android,” said Jason Rupp, senior director of product management at Ask.com.

According to the developer, Ask.com for Android includes all the features of the iPhone application, but with some unique enhancements.

These unique features that have been enhanced include:

- Voice to text: Simply ask questions, no typing required; - Web combined with real people, allowing for faster results to be received; - Send a question to a real user; - Push notifications alert users when a new answer has arrived; - The app allows users to filter Q&A by topics that match their profile; - New Follow feature that provides users with interesting answers and allows them to personalize their Q&A experience with content from these connections.

Ask.com for Android is now available as a free download in the Android Market, as well as Amazon AppStore, and is compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 (Froyo) and higher.
