14 DAY TRIAL // There are a lot of things you don't know about Ashton Kutcher, despite the fact that he lives a pretty public life. You might know about his recent daughter being born, about his engagement to actress Mila Kunis, but you may not know the fact that he once dated a girl that was murdered by a serial killer.
The story is revealed by Gawker, which points out that Ashton was not only dating the girl, Ashley Ellerin, at the time, but he was also present at the scene of the crime on the night she was murdered.

The story has the makings of a horror movie: Ashton and Ashley were a couple back in 2001. At the time, Ashton was an aspiring actor and Ashley was a student and a part-time exotic dancer. On February 21, 2001, she was brutally murdered by Michael Gargiulo, a local repairman who had apparently begun obsessing over her.
The night the Grammys were taking place, Ashley called Ashton and asked him to come over to his friend's house to watch the show together. He declined however and promised to meet her at her home after the show.
That would be the last time Ashton would ever speak to his girlfriend, as she was viciously attacked and murdered in her home, stabbed 35 times in a frenzied attack that almost left her beheaded.
Ashton actually kept his word and showed up at her bungalow behind Grauman's Chinese Theater. He was worried because he was late. After the attack, he told police that he had called her that night but she never answered. He drove up to her house and saw her car in the driveway, so he knew that she was home.
Ashton drove to her house but left when he didn't get an answer
He knocked on the door several times, but when he didn't get an answer, he peered through the front window. The actor claims that he saw what he interpreted as red wine stains leading toward the bedroom and told himself that she had had a fit of anger because he was late, which, in his mind, explained why she would not answer the phone or the door.
The investigation showed that Ashely's body was just out of his view, sprawled in the hallway near the bathroom. The girl's body was found next morning by her roommate.
In 2008, Gargiulo was arrested and charged with Ellerin's murder, as well as the murder of two other women. The man would later confess to killing as many as 10 women.
The actor is expected to testify on the events that took place on the night of the murder
At the moment, the killer is awaiting trial in Los Angeles, and believe it or not, Ashton Kutcher is expected to testify in that trial, despite the fact that he very seldom speaks out about the incidents that occurred that day.
Had he found Ashley's body that night, who knows how his life and career would have turned out.
