14 DAY TRIAL // Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have finally reached an understanding in their prolonged and very bitter divorce battle, with reports saying that the entire affair will be finalized next week. This is also when he’ll be announcing his engagement to current girlfriend Mila Kunis.
Rumors that he proposed to Mila first started picking up in September, after she was photographed with a gold band on her engagement finger. The Daily Mail claims that he did, in fact, ask her to marry him, promising her they would go public the moment his divorce from Demi was over.
Now that this goal is in sight, the two are preparing to break the happy news, after which they will supposedly start planning for the wedding.
The same report notes that Ashton is itching to walk down the aisle with Mila because he’s convinced she’s “the one” for him, and that he’s thrilled Demi has finally listened to reason and agreed to the divorce.
“Demi and Ashton's divorce has cast a cloud over his and Mila's relationship because it's dragged on for so long. Thankfully Demi's turned a corner. She's no longer bitter and she wants the divorce over and done with as soon as possible so she can get on with her life too,” an insider is quoted as saying.
“They're all happy and the papers are signed and with the lawyers now, so Ashton's free,” another source says, adding that Ashton and Mila “want to marry and have children.”
Demi and Ashton’s marriage came apart when he was caught with a woman he’d picked up at a bar precisely on their 6th wedding anniversary. For months after the story broke in the tabloids (it was the second cheating scandal for Ashton), they still put up a united front for the paparazzi, but Demi eventually announced she’d decided to seek a legal separation.
Strangely, it was Ashton who filed for divorce and the proceedings dragged for many months, allegedly because Demi was determined to make him pay for breaking her heart by holding on for a bigger compensation than she would have normally gotten.
Reports say she walked away from the marriage with a considerable amount because Ashton was feeling “generous” – but it was much less than what she got in the divorce from Bruce Willis.
