Ashton Kutcher says story about training for Armageddon was a joke

At the end of December, Men’s Fitness came out with the January 2011 issues, featuring model turned actor and producer Ashton Kutcher. Asked about his motivation to work out, he said he was training for the end of the world, when he’d have to save his family.

The piece also included several mentions from the interviewer, who said that, though he was telling a somewhat ludicrous story, Ashton seemed dead serious about it.

Among many other things, he revealed that he was undergoing intensive training in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat, that he did yoga, and that he basically prepared himself mentally for the day when the world ended.

Days after the interview came out, Kutcher tweeted that his words had been taken out of context, though he didn’t specify in what way.

He did say, though, that the interview was his way of “trying to give some kind of response to the question what motivates you to work out.”

Now, Ashton has changed his story somewhat about the interview that undoubtedly made many roll their eyes, saying that it was a joke and the interviewer completely missed out on it, ShowbizSpy writes.

“Here’s the thing: you do these interviews for like a Men’s Fitness or something, and they’re always asking you like, why do you work out, what’s your motivation to stay in shape?” he says.

Putting into words his real motivation about working out would have made for a rather boring story, so he chose to make up this story about aliens and the end of the world and people fighting over food.

“And you really don’t want to say I want to look good, I want to be healthy, it doesn’t really sound fun. So I kind of got going on this roll of the apocalypse and I thought she was getting the joke, and I read the article and she really didn’t get the joke,” the actor says.

The interviewer from Men’s Fitness has yet to offer her side of the story.

In the meantime, given all these cuckoo celebrity cults that are gaining in popularity, many voices on the blogosphere choose to believe Kutcher was speaking the truth the first time – and he’s now taking it back because he’s ashamed of it.

Ashton is probably correct on the first account. Undeniably he was told to recount the interview based on what the media could make him out to be a fanatic. My opinion is that he has done extensive research on the subject of 2012, unlike most, he is intelligent enough tto put the pieces together. Do your research. He may be the one of the few ready for whatever may come.

Its the same reason I work out. I don't think the world is going to end, but to be the best, to be able to survive in places others would struggle and die. Yeah I work out to stay healthy and fit, but if armageddon comes, or a zombie apocalypse, yeah I will be ready.
