Country music stars say he was mocking them with his attire and singing

Over the weekend, Ashton Kutcher made a surprise appearance at the Country Music Awards 2012, where he presented the award for Female Vocalist of the Year to Miranda Lambert. His brief moment on stage did not fail to upset some country music stars.

Oddly enough, Us Weekly reports, Miranda was one of them.

The actor, who had no other reason to be at the awards show than because he was looking to promote something, took to the stage in country attire, completed with oversized cowboy hat, black jeans and funky jacket, thought it'd be funny to crack a few jokes as well.

You can see a video of his moment below, embedded at the end of the article.

He claimed he came accompanied by his band and he wanted to sing something for the finalist ladies who wouldn't win the much-coveted award.

He chose George Strait's “I Cross My Heart” and sang a few lines from it, as the audience cheered him on. In all fairness, it wasn't that bad.

However, Miranda Lambert, who actually took the awards from Ashton's hands, believes he might have been mocking country stars – and the industry as a whole.

“Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me? Watching it back now and I’m kinda wondering?” she wrote on her Twitter page after the festivities.

Justin Moore, also a country singer, did not even bother to ask his fans that. He tweeted while the awards show was still in full swing that Kutcher had no place there.

“Seen Ashton kutcher at the acms tonight. What a douche! I don’t care for people making a mockery of the way country artists’ dress,” Moore said.

According to the aforementioned media outlet, these two aren't alone in saying Kutcher shouldn't have been there and shouldn't have dressed up as a country star.

“People were just like 'why is he here?' – he has nothing to do with country. Nobody laughed at his dumb jokes, in fact he came off as rude. He didn’t mingle,” one spy tells Us, while another adds that Kutcher attended the festivities “with a massive posse” and “stayed in that dumb outfit for the after party.”
