Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene sign on for “Breaking Dawn” movies, claims report

A week or so ago, word got out in the media, without confirmation from Summit Entertainment, that Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene were asking for a pay raise to reprise their parts in the fifth “Twilight” film, corresponding to the second half of the fourth book by Stephenie Meyer, “Breaking Dawn.” This was holding up production on the film, as the movie studio would not give them what they were asking for. Good news for fans, says Ted Casablanca for E!’s The Awful Truth.

Thanks to fans’ undying and very vocal support, Summit has agreed to give the two stars more money, which means they are now locked in their contracts for another film, until the franchise ends. This was a very wise move on behalf of the studio, Casablanca explains, since, after Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, Lutz and Greene have the biggest fanbase backing them up. In fact, it could very well be that it was precisely the fans that made Summit see it would risk too much by having the two go.

“Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz have reportedly signed deals somewhere around $1.25 million for each of the Breaking Dawn movies. […] It seems that despite a very rocky week, everyone is happy (for the most part) at the final agreement that was just reached for B.D. It was as middle of the road as it was going to get. The studio was a bit shocked at how gung-ho the fans were at standing behind Kellan and Ashley. Never underestimate the Twi-hards! And really, aside from Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, these two hons each have the next biggest fan bases, so smart move to keep ‘em both,” Casablanca writes, convinced that fans’ support did play an important part in the negotiations.

“Although the Cullen kids may have been high-balling the studio at first, we’re thrilled that they really were more dedicated to the fans and franchise than the moolah. If these ‘negotiations’ were to go on any longer, one of their pretty faces wouldn’t be around for any of the Breaking Dawn movies, we’ve been assured. But both Ashley and Kellan wanted to be in the flicks, so that of course in the end made Summit stop being too greedy and give A & K a few more bucks,” the same report goes on to read.

If this is true and fans really did make Summit see that it was putting its neck (and the entire “Twilight” franchise) on the line by even considering of letting Lutz and Greene go, this would be the second time that the fan community manages to turn the tables on a seemingly hopeless situation. After the first film, “Twilight,” the studio was not decided whether it wanted Taylor Lautner back as Jacob Black for “New Moon” – and fans campaigned for it and made it happen.
