Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are working to save their marriage, says report

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz announced they were getting a divorce in February this year, after she went and filed the papers citing “irreconcilable differences.” It would seem that the two have managed to work out their differences.

Since the divorce filing, the two singers were still seen in public together, running errands or grabbing a bite to eat.

Until now, as TMZ also points out, it was generally assumed that the outings were done as a couple for the sake of their child Bronx.

It would seem that the two are back together, for they were snapped holding hands.

“Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are finally coming to grips with their divorce... by holding hands during a coffee run today in L.A. with their son Bronx,” TMZ writes.

“Ashlee and Pete have been spotted out together numerous times since she filed for divorce last month but this is the first time we’ve seen them getting physical,” the e-zine further says.

Since the shocking divorce announcement, the two have kept mum on the reasons for the separation, prompting a lot of talk about how they’d been unfaithful, had alcohol issues or even both.

One report even said that part of the blame for their marriage falling apart lied with Ashlee’s father, Joe Simpson, as we also noted on a previous occasion.

After filing for divorce, Ashlee had second thoughts about it and wanted to meet with Pete to talk it over, but Joe opposed the idea, insisting that she went through with it, insiders said.

“Just like when Jessica split from Nick, Joe is doing nothing to encourage Ashlee to give the marriage another try, if only for the sake of her son,” one spy explained, adding that Joe liked “being the only man in his daughters’ lives.”

The same report also said that Ashlee had already moved out of the house she shared with Pete – and that the custody battle over Bronx was about to get nasty, because of Pete.
