Asetek has been quite busy lately developing water pumps for liquid cooling solutions built by the likes of Antec or Corsair, but somehow the company still managed to find some time to create a new technology and software which allows its pumps to be monitored and controlled depending on the operating temperatures recorded.

Asetek calls this Liquid Temperature Fan Control technology and the first liquid CPU cooler to support it is the recently released Antec KÜHLER H2O 620.

According to the company, the technology can work in two different modes as it supports a fully "Plug and Play" option which automatically adjusts the fans depending on the temperatures recorded as well as a manual mode.

Set this way, users define their own speed curves or select between preset curves and can also monitor liquid temperatures, the fan speed, pump speed, and sound level through the Chill Control V software.

In addition, this tool can change the color of the lighting in the pump cap to match the machine's color or the user's mood.

“Water has a thermal capacity 4000 times greater than air,” said Steve Branton, director of Marketing at Asetek.

“Liquid Temperature Fan Control technology leverages the higher thermal capacity of Asetek's liquid coolers to effectively cool CPUs and GPUs across sharp spikes in load without spiking fan speed or noise.

“The technology gradually ramps fan speed to maintain temperatures during sustained loads delivering an optimized overclocking and quiet computing experience,” concluded the company's rep.

The Antec KÜHLER H2O 620 LC which supports this technology is available for purchase for $69.95 and is compatible with a wide range of AMD and Intel motherboards, including LGA 1366, LGA 1155, LGA 1156, AM3 and AM3+.

It is still uncertain when other solutions that feature this technology will reach the market.
