DigiTimes, Taiwan’s industry trade publication with ties to Apple’s suppliers, is reporting a cut in iPad estimates on behalf of the Cupertino, California-based computer maker.

Based on intel gathered from the usual industry sources, the paper reveals that Apple has begun adjusting shipment estimates for its tablet computers in 2013.

The company expects to sell only 33 million large-screen iPads, and 55 million iPad minis. Apple had originally estimated a total 100 million units for 2013, but that number has dwindled down to 88 million.

As the figures themselves show, Apple now expects the iPad mini to outsell the bigger, pricier iPads.

The Cupertino tech giant is poised to introduce two new variants of both iPads this April, according to sources deemed as reliable by tech blog iMore. Similar reports from financial analysts tracking Apple seem to resonate with these claims. The iPad 5 will reportedly employ a new design akin to that of the iPad mini, whereas the diminutive tablet computer will gain a Retina display, those same sources said.
