Flappy Bird clones begin to emerge featuring tons of ads and poor gameplay

It’s official: Dong Nguyen’s Flappy Bird game is no more, and the clones are trickling in faster than you can smash your iPhone with a hammer.

The top downloaded Flappy Bird clone right now is Ironpants, which is actually the poorest knockoff I’ve seen so far. The game is virtually unplayable and it serves ads at just the right time so you can tap on them without even realizing it.

Another widely successful clone is Fly Birdie – Flappy Bird Flyer. Also unplayable and chock-full of advertisements.

Needless to point out, if you really need your Flappy Bird fix, the only way to get it right now is probably to jailbreak your phone and look for the IPA file on the web. I’m not suggesting it, of course. But I’ve come to realize that Flappy Bird, for all its flaws, is the best one of its kind.
