I have been searching for a distro that meets the needs of visual Art teachers. I have demoed Studio Ubuntu and Studio64 but these lean toward the audio side and as such have less visual programs. ArtistX may be more of everything in the kitchen sink but it is nice to have the huge variety and choice for teachers who's hardware varies and is often limited. I tried this latest release as it now has an install option and it installed easily, after install had an "out of range" screen from my updating drivers for nvida but that's an Ubuntu thing. Slipped in an ATI card and now smooth as silk. This distro really has a great selection of visual programs. Everything from 3d animation to povray modeling. Traditional 2d animation and even stop motion is also here. There's Gimp and Inkscape as well as many others for drawing. A ton of other little programs and utilities are all packed in here, maybe stuff you wouldn't use but again if needed all loaded and in the menu. This is definately the Linux I will demo and hand out to art teachers at my next workshop.
