ArtistX 1.2, a Ubuntu-based distribution that aims to enable artists and creators from a number of fields to work via a live and free environment, has just been released.

ArtistX 1.2 has been in development for more than ten years and now it has moved from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) to Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot).

This particular distribution was created with Relinux software for Live DVDs and has Linux kernel 3.0.0.

ArtistX 1.2 also features two different desktop environments, GNOME 3 and KDE SC 4.7, and about 2500 software packages.

Unlike other Ubuntu-based distributions, it doesn't feature Unity. According to the developer, there isn't a password for Sudo and installation; users just need to press enter.

Many audio editing and creation tools are included as well as tools for 2D and 3D graphics. Finally, video editing software is available on the Live DVD as well.
