A new sculpture of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez presents the loved-up teen idols like fans have never seen them before: not only are they wearing nothing but a leaf and a star to cover certain parts of their bodies, but they’re also joined at the hip.

Artist Daniel Edwards, who has made somewhat of a habit of portraying celebrities in unexpected situations and positions in his sculptures, has decided to take on the most famous couple in showbiz right now.

The result, as TooFab reports, is striking at least. The two are not wearing any clothes and are joined at the hip in a bid to be presented as a whole, as one.

In fact, that’s the name of the piece: “Justin and Selena as One.”

“The portrait depicts the young couple conjoined at the torso and almost entirely nude, with a Canadian maple leaf and a Texas lone star covering their private parts,” TooFab writes.

“Bieber hails from Ontario, Canada from while Gomez calls Grand Prairie, Texas home,” the e-zine adds. So this explains the “accessories” on the sculpture.

TooFab also underlines that Edwards loves to challenge the public’s perception of a celebrity by having them in shocking, unexpected positions and situations.

“He previously captured Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in a piece called ‘Brangelina Forever.’ Other controversial works he’s done include a Britney Spears giving birth and statues of a dead Paris Hilton and Prince Harry,” the same media outlet reports.

Even so, many fans and celebrity bloggers are not happy about Edwards’ latest piece, describing it in terms ranging from “creepy” to downright “wrong.”

Not that Edwards would be deterred by said reaction: as noted above, he aims to create controversy with his work. “Justin and Selena as One” will go on display Dallas’ New Fine Arts at a later date.

Here is where you can see more photos of it.
