The patterns are revealed without camera or digital manipulation

Thanks to a technique known as electro-photography, artist Robert Buelteman has managed to bring forth fascinating patters using nothing more than flowers, photographic plates and electricity.

As surprising as this may sound, no camera or digital manipulation has been used in the making of the picture above.

Thus, the artist turned towards shooting high-voltages of electricity into the flowers of his choice and recording the result on a photographic plate instead.

Design Boom explains that, although electro-photography has been around since the 1930s, the technique is still considered to be very dangerous and there are few who manage to toy with it with as much swiftness as Robert Buelteman does.

Several such pictures of electrocuted flowers, leaves and twigs have been put together by the artist and have been published in a book named “Signs of Life.”
