Art Garfunkel Charged For Possessing Marijuana

Art Garfunkel, best known as half of the folk duo Simon and Garfunkel, was charged for possessing marijuana on Sunday.

The singer was stopped by the New York police, after failing to obey a stop sign. At the car inspection, the trooper noticed a strong odor of marijuana and after a close search he found a joint in the ashtray.

"The driver and only occupant of the vehicle identified himself with New York driver's , license as Arthur Garfunkel, subsequent search of the vehicle revealed one marijuana cigarette located in the ashtray," Eonline quoted the police statement, as reported in the Kingston Daily Freeman ,as saying.

Art is due to appear in Woodstock Town Court on Sept. 22.
