Arrested Security Flaw Merchant Comes Back Online

- Roberto Preatoni brings WabiSabiLabi back in the spotlights

By: Bogdan Popa, Security and Search Engines Editor

WabiSabiLabi, a long-criticized project, is about to get back online as its founder, Roberto Preatoni has decided to bring the website back to life. For those of you who don't
know, WabiSabiLabi is a company focused on security flaws and vulnerabilities which tries to find new glitches and sell them over the Internet to those involved in the security market. And in case you missed the news, Roberto Preatoni was arrested last year on charges of hacking and wiretapping, but I'm not going to talk about it because the story was longly-discussed by lots of people in the last few months.

"But the damage to WSL was done and there was nothing I could do to repair the cracks. The questions I kept asking myself in the last months were: What will happen to WSL if I will stay? Will my private life and troubles effect negatively the project? Should I keep representing publicly the project? Several people, including security researchers mailed me addressing the same questions (thanks, Jesper) forcing me finally to take a decision," he wrote on the blog.

What's more important is that the founder of the service has announced the revamp of WabiSabiLabs, although its negative image may still affect the business.

"I will stay. I will stay and continue to put pressure to security lobbies. Things must change, researchers and their discoveries should be considered beneficial to the whole security cycle," Preatoni commented upon his decision.

Beside the revamp of the service, he promises fans of WabiSabiLabi that the company will reveal an unexpected partnership anytime soon, so keep an eye on the news to find out which is the surprise prepared by the security firm. Let's just hope that WabiSabiLabi's return on the market will improve today's security, which is constantly under attack.
