The instant he was out of politics, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his intention of getting back into film. He will be seen this summer in “The Expendables 2,” opposite good pal Sylvester Stallone, and in early 2013, in his own action flick, “The Last Stand.”

An official photo for the latter has just hit and you can see it in full by clicking on the image above.

Arnie plays a disgraced cop who becomes sheriff in a small border town, which he is then forced to defend.

He tells USA Today that fans will be able to draw various parallels between his character and himself.

“[My character] hasn’t had to flex his muscles in a while, so when the gangsters come to town, it’s a big test,” he says.

Shooting the film was also a “big test” for Schwarzenegger, especially since he insisted on doing most of his stunts.

“The Last Stand” is directed by Kim Jee-Woon and also features appearances by Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville, Luis Guzman, Jaimie Alexander, Rodrigo Santoro and Eduardo Noriega.
