In May 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver announced the end of their 25-year marriage on amicable terms. In a matter of minutes, the split turned into a very nasty celebrity scandal, as news broke that Maria had learned of Arnold’s affair with the family housekeeper. The scandal took an even nastier turn when it emerged that he had also fathered a child with the housekeeper, Mildred, and that he’d been keeping the both of them in the same house as his legitimate family.
Apparently, he had promised Mildred that he would take proper care of her and their son, for as long as she kept the secret. Which she did, until the last moment.
That was 3 years ago. Today, Arnold and Maria are divorced, and he seems to continue to be involved in his son’s life, and to a certain extent, even in Mildred’s, because he brought the two to the big premiere of his most recent movie.
Arnold and most of the biggest action stars of the ‘90s are back in theaters with “Expendables 3” and he invited Mildred and Joseph to the premiere. The second photo included in the gallery confirms it: Joseph also brought a date, a blonde young woman who is yet to be identified in the press.
As expected, Arnold did not pose with them on the red carpet, but the mere fact that they were there is indicative of the fact that, even if he did wrong by Maria by lying to her for all those years, at least he’s doing his best to be a real dad to his son.
“Expendables 3” will probably break the spell of bad luck for Arnie, who, after announcing his movie comeback after he retired from politics, could not exactly “kill it” at the box office. “The Last Stand,” “Escape Plan,” and “Sabotage” barely made an impression with fans, and it showed in ticket sales. They failed to impress critics altogether.
So, before he returns to “Terminator” with the reboot “Genisys,” Arnie will be having a blast with his pals in the third “Expendables” installment. If the previous two films are anything to go by, this one will be a hit as well, though Schwarzenegger won’t get all the credit for it.
With a cast like this one, it would be a crying shame if “Expendables 3” underperformed: Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Kellan Lutz, Terry Crews, Kelsey Grammer, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Harrison Ford, and Wesley Snipes.
