For the first time since he was forced to admit publicly to cheating on his wife with the family housekeeper and fathering an illegitimate son with her, Arnold Schwarzenegger is speaking up.

As we also noted some time ago, the former Governor of California, who is now gearing for his comeback to action movies, has agreed to sit down for an interview with 60 Minutes, which aired just shortly ago.

The interview also serves as promo work for Arnold’s new book, “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story,” which will also deal, in a separate chapter, with the affair that cost him his marriage to Maria Shriver.

Below is a video from the 60 Minutes segment, in which Arnold talks about his affair and whether he paid the woman “hush money” to prevent her from going to the press with everything she had on him.

As it must be well known by now, Arnold and the housekeeper, Mildred Baena, had an affair right in the family home, when Maria and the kids were on vacation.

A son, Joseph, was born from it, but Arnold insists that he only learned the boy was his when he started noticing that he resembled him a bit too much.

He refuses to detail the exact moment in which he made this shocking discovery, saying instead he just “put things together” and, on his own, decided to start sending money to Mildred for his support.

He refuses to call it “hush money” because that would imply Mildred ever wanted to rat him out to the press or, perhaps just as worse, to his wife.

“She knew what it was about. Mildred is a good person. She was not out to get me or take advantage of me,” Arnold explains.

In the same interview, Arnold states his belief that Maria wants him to do well, including with his book that details the affair with the housekeeper.

TMZ sings an entirely different tune: Maria had no idea he would go public with everything and is fuming that 60 Minutes would interview her soon to be ex-husband without as much as placing a call to her to get her side of the story.
