Electronic Arts, as the publisher, and EA Montreal, as the developer, have announced that a demo version of Army of Two: The 40th Day is set to be released on the Xbox Live service for the Microsoft home gaming console and on the PlayStation Network for the Sony platform.

The demo will be arriving on January 7, 2010 for all those who live in North America and one week later for all those who are willing to play in Europe. The developer is saying that the demo will include pretty much all of the first level of the full game, as Salem and Rios are fighting their way through Shanghai as it comes under attack from unknown forces. Full cooperative gameplay will be available in the demo version.

Reid Schneider, who is the executive producer on the title, said that “The 40th Day is non-stop action in an explosive Shanghai. The game has been designed with a focus on co-op gameplay and it has been our goal to refine this core experience in all aspects of the game. The demo will give players the opportunity to experience this evolution and the new co-op moves and tactics available to players at any time in the game.”

Electronic Arts is also saying that those players who are impressed with the demo can pre-order Army of Two: The 40th Day in order to get exclusive access to a new gaming mode, called Extraction, immediately upon release. Regular players will get access to the same mode, which is team based and designed for four players, after one month.

Army of Two: The 40th Day will be released on the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation Portable and on the Xbox 360 on January 13, 2010, one of the first big releases of the new year.
