Sheriff David Clarke Jr. of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin is asking residents to buy weapons and take lessons on how to use them.

In a pre-recorded message, aired by local radio stations, he is basically encouraging the population to learn to fend for themselves, at least until police are able to help them.

“It's no longer a spectator sport; I need you in the game. But are you ready? [...] You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back. But are you prepared?” the sheriff asks, in true Terminator style.

He cites a lack of manpower in law enforcement agencies, and hints that police might be too late in responding to a 911 call.
