The home of Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro has been demolished following a judge's order.

Castro agreed to the demolition as part of his life in prison sentence terms. He was spared the death penalty, but he was sentenced to 1,000 years in jail for the rape, torture, and kidnapping of three women.

Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus, and Michelle Knight have lived in Castro's house for more than a decade.

During this time, they were held against their will, impregnated with his children, tied to walls, and severely beaten.

The aunt of Gina DeJesus, Peggy Arida, climbed in the excavator cab when the structure was first struck, CBS reported.

Before the event, Michelle Knight turned up at the scene and released yellow balloons to celebrate the demolition.
