In another odd twist in this family's story, his daughter Emily recounted how she and her sister Arlene were made to wear T-shirts over their bathing suits.
ABC News reported that, when they were wearing skirts, they had to wear shorts underneath them. He had a strict policy about them never changing in his presence and they even had to wear underwear while taking showers.
As previously reported, Emily described that her father picked students at her school as his victims. Both Amanda Berry and Georgina DeJesus attended the same school as Emily and Arlene.
The latter was one of DeJesus's best friends and they saw each other on a regular basis. She was the last person to see her the day she went missing.
Between 2002 and 2004, Ariel Castrol kidnapped three women, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina “Gina” DeJesus, whom he held captive in his home in Cleveland, Ohio, until May of 2013.
The woman escaped when Amanda Berry managed to run away together with her 6-year-old daughter and alerted authorities. Within hours, Arial Castro was in police custody.
When in a court of law, the man pleaded guilty to a total of 937 criminal counts of rape, kidnapping, and aggravated murder. He was sentenced to life in prison and then another 1,000 years.
He never got to serve his sentence as, after just one month in prison, he managed to hang himself with his bedsheets and died.
