Ariel Castro, the man holding three girls in his home in Ohio against their will for a decade, is a friend of one of their families.

The Mirror informed that Castro was friends with Gina DeJesus’ parents (right), helping her father look for her when she went missing in 2004.

The kidnapping suspect was involved in passing out fliers and giving out information during a neighborhood search for the missing girl.

"When we went out to look for Gina, he helped pass out fliers.

"You know, he was friends with the family,” friend Khalid Samad explains.

He also helped out the family by playing his guitar at a vigil and fundraiser held to support search efforts in the DeJesus case.

As I mentioned, she was found safe and sound in his house, when fellow prisoner Amanda Berry managed to escape with the help of a neighbor.

Third kidnapping victim Michelle Knight and Berry's 6-year-old daughter Jocelyn have also been found in the home.
