Almost a couple of weeks ago, Big Sean blew a fuse when Justin Bieber got too touchy-feely with his girl in concert

Ariana Grande and Big Sean won’t be exchanging loving words on social media or putting on PDAs on the red carpet: after more or less 8 months as a couple, the two have called it quits. A rep confirms the breakup and makes sure to not blame Justin Bieber for it.

Almost a couple of weeks ago, Bieber surprised Ariana’s fans during her Los Angeles stop on the Honeymoon Tour and got a bit too touchy-feely with her on stage, much to Big Sean’s displeasure. The latter alleged that he never tweeted threats at The Biebs as it seemed he had, but few bought it.

“Conflicting touring schedules”

Hearing that Big Sean and Ariana broke up shortly after this might have made some conclude that Bieber was somehow involved. He wasn’t, a rep says in a statement to Us Weekly: they went their separate ways because of their work, which is making their relationship too complicated right now.

“They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends,” the statement says. “We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time. They made the decision to part ways because their conflicting touring schedules would keep them apart over the next year.”

In this context, continuing as an item would have made very little sense, because they could spend very little time together.

If we’re to look at the breakup announcement based on Ariana’s Twitter, which was filled with love declarations, presumably from Big Sean, she either didn’t expect the split, or she did but had a very difficult time coming to terms with it.

A camera-shy romance from the start

Even though they would often gush about one another on social media, Ariana and Big Sean strove from day one to keep their romance out of the pages of the tabloids, even long after it had become one of the worst kept secrets in showbiz.

The two are believed to have started dating in October, but they refused to acknowledge the relationship or go public with it until in early 2015, when they were caught holding hands backstage at some major awards show.

After that, they stopped hiding. They didn’t make a loud and proud statement of the kind celebrities are so fond of, talking about their life as a couple, but they weren’t hiding from the cameras anymore.
