14 DAY TRIAL // At 21, Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande has the entire world at her feet already. Not only is she scooping up award after award, and seeing her music top the charts, but she’s also drawing comparisons to one of the most successful and talented female artists of all times, Mariah Carey.
Until not long ago, she found the comparison extremely flattering and would even encourage it. Who wouldn’t?!
However, these days, she flat-out hates Mariah and has instructed everyone on her staff never to mention her name in her presence, because Mariah dissed her in a radio interview earlier this year. Embedded below is the segment of the interview that supposedly got Ariana so mad.
“Ariana was mad that Mariah Carey dissed her in an interview and it makes her furious to even hear Mariah’s name,” an inside source tells the latest print issue of Star Magazine (story via CB). “Ariana insisted that Mariah’s name never be brought up in her presence.”
As it happens, this is actually the nicest thing Star’s tipster has to say about Ariana because, even though she hates Mariah and comparisons to her, she leaves room for more of the latter. If Mariah is a diva (and she is, she said so herself numerous times), then Ariana is an even bigger one.
The tab claims that she is a pain to work with and is very unprofessional no matter if she’s shooting a music video, a magazine pictorial or a TV special. She’s always late on set and doesn’t even apologize, throws tantrums to get her way, always insists on being filmed only from her left side, and is rude to everyone else.
“She was a total nightmare,” says a spy of Ariana’s behavior on the set of a special earlier this month. “She demanded to be shot only on her left side and told the lighting crew that if they used red light, she would ‘kill herself’.”
“[Producers] were saying that she is, hands down, the most difficult person they have ever had to work with,” the tipster adds.
On another occasion, this time a photoshoot, Ariana was just as impossible. “She arrived hours late, with no explanation, and refused to do anything the photographer asked. She was acting like a crazy person. One minute she was all sweetness… then she’d storm out, only to come back two minutes later, all smiles,” says the insider.
It seems that not even charity can get her to act like a nice young woman her age, because, when she was nominated for the ASL Ice Bucket Challenge, which would have seen her douse herself with a bucket of ice water in front of a camera to raise awareness and money for ALS, she refused.
She didn’t do so because she believes, like millions of other people, that those who do the Challenge instead of just donating money are hypocrites, but because she’s too vain to allow the world to see her without her “war face” on. In other words, she has bad skin and dreads the mere thought of being seen without makeup.
