Ariana Grande wants you to know she's nobody's fool, she does what she wants and when she wants it, despite the fact that she's a pop star, and pop stars are known to be a by-product of big company labels who create them from the ground-up, as you would a piece of furniture.

Speaking with Attitude Magazine, the pop singer, who is currently topping the charts and raking in some serious media attention, has made it clear that she doesn't like to be bossed around when it comes to decisions regarding her career.

“I’ve seen people online saying: ‘It’s so sad she’s becoming a product of this industry – she’s wearing shorter and shorter skirts, and showing more and more skin,” she said with regret in her voice, but then she explains that “I’m like: ‘Yeah, because I want to.’”

The singer goes on to vent her fury at the cynical comments by adding that “Believe me, if I don’t want to do something, I will not do it.” This deep-set conviction that she does only what she wants, we find out, comes from her dreams to become an artist since she was a kid.

“I wanted to be a singer for ever and I’m not going to jeopardise it by letting someone else take control and make me present myself as something I’m not,” she concludes on the matter.

The ending argument is a very harsh one, which includes an F-bomb, just to emphasize the fact that she's dead serious about who wears the pants in her career, “I’m a very flexible person – but if I feel like you want me to compromise my views or myself as an artist, you can go [expletive] yourself.”

What can we say? It's nice to see an artist taking such strong pride in their work and standing by it.
