Those of you who keep up with Ariana Grande in the news might remember that the singer was recently devastated by the death of her grandfather. Well, that family tragedy might have caused new drama for her, because it may have made her to break up with her boyfriend, Jai Brooks.

Us Weekly gives the report about how Ariana Grande hasn't been able to recover from losing her grandfather to cancer and how it's been affecting her mood: “It has not been an easy few months.”

It hasn't helped that Jai, her boyfriend, “wasn't as supportive as he could have been,” according to an insider. And now the two seem to have parted ways. Ariana alluded to this development with a lengthy post on Twitter.

“You learn a lot about love, life and the people around you during a time of crisis,” she told her fans. “July was painful for many reasons but of all the personal loss I suffered last month, the loss of my grandfather, a true gentleman, was the only one that truly mattered,” she explained her grief.

Ariana took the time to extend her thanks to those who have shown her support: “I thank everybody who was here for me when I needed them as the ones who weren't really broke my heart.”

This is not the first time Jai and Ariana have parted ways. The couple has been together since August 2012, when they were seen on their first date. A year later they broke up but decided to rekindle their romance last May. At the time, the two were spotted making out at the iHeart Radio Music Awards, where Ariana performed on stage.

But Ariana seems to be slowly recovering from all the heartbreak. Her final message to her fans was more optimistic: “August is about to be a beautiful, beautiful month. Looking forward to all the good coming up.”

The source claims this is true, as the singer is now “gearing up for her album release so she's focused on that.”

Most recently, Ariana revealed that she was working hard to push the new album. She also made some comments about her scrapped collaboration with Justin Bieber, which has been put on hold for now since the two singers can't find the time in their busy schedules to work together.

At the moment, the singer is still ruling the airwaves with her collaboration song with Iggy Azalea, the chart-topper “Problem” that has debuted at number one and has brought her considerable attention from the industry.
