Lightweight and easy to use

Argyll Telecom has launched MobiCare, a simplified mobile phone offering limited call functionality and an embedded safety device.

Due to the fact that MobiCare has limited calling capabilities, it automatically minimizes the costs associated with mobile phones, without reducing any of the benefits a phone brings, like the possibility of keeping in touch with friends and family.

Users can maintain links with up to four contacts and will be able to call them with the press of a single button. It is suitable for a wide range of lone workers and more discreet than a mobile phone.

In the case of an emergency, users can alert Argyll's 24-hour control room by simultaneously pressing the two red buttons on the side.

The operators at the control room will listen to and record the call as well as retrieve location information (through satellite or mobile phone network location technologies) and summon immediate assistance from the emergency services if necessary.

The control room is available 24 hours a day all year round. MobiCare is generally a perfect blend between a mobile phone and a safety device. When integrated with the company's CommuniCare service, lone workers will also be able to record details of their journey, establish where they are and who they are supposed to meet.

Aside from that, the device is small and lightweight, very easy to carry around in a pocket allowing the user to discreetly call the alarm if threatened.

Other benefits include location accuracies of within 10 meters, voice location compatibility and boundary zone monitoring. The MobiCare is simple to use and satisfies Health and Safety legislation in relation to lone workers.
