Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Kerberos Productions have announced that they plan to release a new expansion pack for their space-based real time strategy title Sword of the Stars. The new content pack is called Argos Naval Yard and is set to arrive on June 17. Gamers who are interested in it will have to pay 8.99 dollars for the expansion, which will be delivered via the Gamers Gate, Direct 2 Drive, Impulse, and Steam digital distribution services.

Argos Naval Yard should introduce 19 new technologies, like advanced drones, over thrusters, new satellite designs, defensive interceptor micro missiles, and polarized plasmatics (which are set to unlock a new type of weaponry). There are now 75 new ship sections that can be built by the player and ten fresh weapons that can be added to ships.

As far as the game space goes, the Argos Naval Yard expansion also offers three new scenarios to play around in. It's not a huge amount of fresh stuff for an expansion but fans of the genre will be thankful for it.

Chris Stewart, who is the Chief Operations Officer of Kerberos, stated that “With the successful release of the Sword of the Stars Ultimate Collection, the expansion Argos Naval Yard is a natural extension of the Sword of the Stars series. The new ships, weapons and technologies in Argos Naval Yard will present gamers with new challenges and capabilities.”

Sword of the Stars has pretty much lived in the shadow of Sins of a Solar Empire, from Ironclad and Stardock, which was the RTS of 2008. The game is similarly set in space and offers more options related to customizing your empire and the way your armies behave in battle. The game has received two significant expansions until now, Born of Blood and Murder of Crows, which add new races to the galaxy and expand the way in which the game can be played.
