As we already told you a couple of weeks ago, ASUS is planning to release a new desktop computer system designed to provide the necessary computing power to run the newest releases in desktop PC gaming. The new system is said to be built using the latest in technology hardware, providing high amounts of computing power. Simply dubbed Ares CG6155, ASUS calls its product "the ultimate gaming powerhouse."

Although no official release date, or estimated price tag for that matter, have been made public so far, this mean-looking rig is expected to feature no less than 2 kW of power with its "dual power design." This should be enough to make one understand why ASUS likes to call Ares by that absolute term mentioned above. And, if this isn't enough to convince you, wait until you find out where that large amount of power is required - how about no less than three of the latest NVIDIA GeForce GT200 series graphics cards, connected in SLI?

On top of that, a factory overclocked Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 4.0GHz processor will provide the necessary computing power for ASUS' Ares. Also add a maximum of 8GB of dual-channel DDR3 1333MHz memory on an NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard, and you get the general picture of what the Ares is capable of.

To sweeten the offer, ASUS will also equip its desktop gaming rig with up to 4TB of HDD storage, Blu-ray optical drive and a specially designed gaming keyboard, an ASUS branded Logitech G9 mouse and headset. All these will go into the making of the Ares, ASUS' first desktop system built for gamers.

The Taiwanese manufacturer is known for offering efficient portable solutions for gamers, thanks to its G1 and G2 notebooks but, until now, the company has never made a move on the desktop computers market. With the Ares being out, ASUS will most probably enjoy considerable success here as well.
