With new rewards

Blizzard is announcing that a new Arena Season is in the works and will begin on June 24, just after the third Season of the event is closed up by the company. Eyonix has posted the details regarding the new season of the Arena concept on the official forum.

The Arena contest is separate from the normal progression of World of Warcraft and offers skilled players with high level characters a chance to compete in some interesting battles once their single-player experience in the game is pretty much over. The Arena battles are sometimes punishing and the rewards, like an Armored Nether Drake, that the seasons can offer a good player are high enough to prompt a lot of the players to enter the contest.

As the third season is discontinued, players will be able to purchase Arena Season 2 specific items using the honor system. Also, all the ratings will be reset to 1500 and all players will get a clean slate in anticipation of the upcoming Arena Season 4.

Blizzard is launching a lot of initiatives designed to keep veteran players occupied while the next expansion of the game, called Wrath of the Lich King, is being prepared for launch. Announced almost a year ago, the expansion is scheduled to be released later, during fall - despite the fact that Blizzard is refusing to commit to a definitive date.

Wrath of the Lich King will introduce new areas to the game and will raise the level cap, while adding at least one new character class to the game, the Death Knight. There are also rumors that most of the other classes will undergo significant changes needed to balance the game but, again, Blizzard is keeping mum and is not talking about the under-the-hood changes that the game will experience.

BlizzCon is one of the earliest occasions on which the game will be accessible to the average gamer for play.
