I'm starting to believe that her in-laws were right when they demanded that the public and the recording companies ban troubled and notorious drug user Amy Winehouse. At one point, it was suggested that the singer - who despite her extraordinary talent is more famous for being a drug user than a proper singer - be given less attention (or even the cold shoulder) by all those in charge of her music, in the hope that it will help her stay clean. At the time, I thought it was a low thing to ask for, but it turns out Blake Fielder-Civil's parents might have been right: Amy's drug-seeking, boozing behavior seems to be fueled by the big bosses of the music industry.
The latest proof for this is the fact that, according to the Daily mail, Amy Winehouse is on the point of throwing the "mother of all parties" tonight. Her accomplices - I mean, sponsors, are none other than the Q Awards bosses, who thought it was a smart move to hand Amy a £10,000 clubbing budget. And even though apparently it's nothing but an acknowledgment of her value and talent, considering Amy's troubled past, this kind of move may have potentially fatal consequences.
It's true - she has every reason to celebrate. Amy Winehouse is an extremely talented singer, and her success is a natural consequence of her singing and writing talent. After scooping the Q Award for Best Album with Back To Black (and beating Arctic Monkeys, among others in the process) Amy will be throwing a mega-party, with a mega-budget and a mega-risk to her already unstable health.
The awards ceremony is set to take place this evening, and the organizers of the after-party (which will take place at Piccadilly's Café de Paris nightclub) seem to be determined to keep notoriously unpredictable Amy and her drugged-out husband Blake Fielder-Civil happy. As a result, they have allocated a huge party fund "to avoid any calamities". But it seems that they are forgetting an important, potential calamity factor, the biggest of them all: Amy herself.
"Amy can be difficult and therefore they have to deal with her carefully", said a source. "Everyone's worried there will be trouble with Amy and Blake so they want to smooth things beforehand". Are these people completely crazy? The trouble they fear will occur precisely because Amy and her hubby will have all the booze they need to put their lives in danger, as usual.
And if by "smoothing things beforehand" they mean giving Amy a chance to kill herself, then I suppose that at some twisted level they're right - I guess being dead means you can cause no further trouble. Wake up, people, and open your eyes - you're basically assisting them to commit suicide. Will anyone realize that before it's too late?
