Sadly, HUD was not implemented in this version of Unity!

Canonical announced a few minutes ago, February 1st, that the Unity 5.2 interface is ready for testing on the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) platform.

Unity 5.2 brings multi-monitor support (Unity launchers appear on each monitor, and when scrolling across a monitor, you should feel some resistance in order to allow for you to use the launcher on that screen).

New screen edge detection was also implemented, forcing users to push against or scroll into the left part of the screen to invoke the launcher. Therefore, the launcher will no longer pop-up when you hit the back button in Firefox.

Installation is easy, hit the CTRL+ALT+T key combination on your keyboard and paste the following command in the terminal window (one by one, hitting Enter after each one):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unity-team/ppa sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Restart your session when the update process is over. Be aware that it doesn't come with HUD support, so you'll have to remove the HUD PPA from your system with ppa-purge before updating. Happy testing and report bugs here!
