Archos to Sell Cool Generation 5 Worldwide!

Good news for Archos fans. The company's Generation 5 players are now available worldwide. Archos, finally decided to unleash all its versions. Since I guess you already know the 605 and 405 had been recently sent to the Stateside, to compete with some of the heaviest names in the electronics industry, this news item is just a reinforcement of the same fact.

Unfortunately, there's not much good news about it, as the Archos 705 WiFi and Archos TV+ won't actually hit the markets, until early next month!

But hey, some other cool players from the same companies such as the Archos 105, 405 and 605 WiFi are all out today.

As for their pricing and availability details, we found out that the Archos players aren't terribly expensive either, with the versions of 2GB 105 priced at $89; 2GB 405 at $149; the 4GB, 30GB, 80GB and 160GB 605 WiFi at $199, $299 and $349, $399, respectively; 80GB 705 WiFi at $399, 160GB at $499; 80GB Archos TV+ at $249, and finally the impressively huge 250GB TV+ at the highest score of $349.

Henri Crohas, founder and CEO of Archos said that: "Last year with the ARCHOS 604 WiFi, we already offered a resolution superior to most of the competitors' products today. This year, we're bringing four times higher resolution because comfortable Web surfing requires at least 800 pixels on the line. Any attempt with a lower resolution creates insolvable ergonomic issues."

The company's line of players includes the WiFi models, which connect wirelessly to the "Archos Content Portal" for PC-free purchasing of premium content. In such matter, Archos already has some pretty important partners worldwide, among which CinemaNow, in the US. and Fnac in France.

According to the company's representatives, "the WiFi ARCHOS PMPs bridge the gap between PC and PMP, and PC and TV wirelessly. For the first time, users can stream content from the PC or the Internet to the TV, all through a wireless home network."

The best news is that everybody, regardless of location, is going to be able to get one of these and check out its capabilities, at lower prices than expected.
