Archos Puts 16GB Android Tablet On Sale for $250

Archos has just announced that its Archos 43 Android-based tablet PC is now available for purchase in the United States and in Canada for only $250, straight from the company's website. Packing a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, the slate is no larger than the HTC Desire HD or HTC EVO 4G smartphones already made available for purchase on the market, but does sport a much lower price tag.

The specifications list for the slate are similar with those of any high-end smartphone, as it includes both a touchscreen display, as well as a photo snapper on the back, with video recording capabilities, enhanced connectivity options, and enough memory space to fit the needs of any user.

The Android tablet PC also comes to the market with WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth connectivity options on board, as well as with a high-speed processor running at 1 GHz inside.

The hardware specs of this device also include a 854 x 480 pixels resolution for the screen, graphical accelerator (3D OpenGL ES 2.0), and support for 3D capabilities such as 3D games, animated interface.

Some of the main features of the slate include:

- Internet: Surf the web in full width just like on your PC, and stay in contact by using the integrated email and contacts applications
- HD Multimedia: Play your favorite HD videos and view photos on the sharp 4.3 inch touch screen
- Applications: Customize your device by downloading your favorite Android applications
- HD Video Camera: Capture all your fun times in HD with the built in rear facing HD camera
- TV: Play out your HD videos on a large screen TV with the HDMI out connection
- Expandable Storage Expand your capacity with the Micro SD card slot (SDHC compatible)

The slate offers a range of multimedia capabilities, including HD video playback, HD camcorder, and full Internet browsing, all packed inside a palm-sized device.

Other features of the new device include an Android email client (with support for Gmail, Yahoo!, etc), fast access to Facebook, Picasa or Flickr accounts, and more.

Hi,
Are you kidding with $250/ when Ipod 32 gb is for $229/ at sams club. Comon be realistic if you plan to cut ipod's market.

This thing sounds silly. My Evo sounds much better. 4.3"is a large phone, not a slate.this will die a quick and unnoticed death, surely.
