Archos has just announced that its Archos 43 Android-based tablet PC is now available for purchase in the United States and in Canada for only $250, straight from the company's website. Packing a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, the slate is no larger than the HTC Desire HD or HTC EVO 4G smartphones already made available for purchase on the market, but does sport a much lower price tag.

The specifications list for the slate are similar with those of any high-end smartphone, as it includes both a touchscreen display, as well as a photo snapper on the back, with video recording capabilities, enhanced connectivity options, and enough memory space to fit the needs of any user.

The Android tablet PC also comes to the market with WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth connectivity options on board, as well as with a high-speed processor running at 1 GHz inside.

The hardware specs of this device also include a 854 x 480 pixels resolution for the screen, graphical accelerator (3D OpenGL ES 2.0), and support for 3D capabilities such as 3D games, animated interface.

The slate offers a range of multimedia capabilities, including HD video playback, HD camcorder, and full Internet browsing, all packed inside a palm-sized device.

Other features of the new device include an Android email client (with support for Gmail, Yahoo!, etc), fast access to Facebook, Picasa or Flickr accounts, and more.
