Archos aims to provide a companion for food enthusiasts

Tablet wars seem to be moving in the kitchen, these days. Some of you might remember that exactly a year ago, Archos unveiled its ChefPad tablet, a device meant to provide both entertainment and useful cooking tips for gourmands preparing meals.

Now the company seems to have another tablet destined to be an accessory for chefs, which comes in the form of Kitchen Screen.

The device was spotted by ArcTablet on the YouTube channel of an Israeli user. As you might expect, there’s no palpable information about the device, so I can't give you details about what processor powers it or the screen's resolution, for now.

But going through the video, you can get an idea of what the Kitchen Screen will end up being used for. Chefs will be able to manage ingredients and foods by simply scanning the product’s bar code. The same feat can be achieved by virtue of voice recognition via Peapod shopping cart.

The tablet will also be capable of displaying kitchen recipes and users will be able to listen to the radio while they cook thanks to the “tunein” app.

Design-wise, the Kitchen Screen seems very similar to the Archos Smart Home tablet, unveiled a while ago and which wasn't built to be kitchen-proof.

It would be interesting to find out the differences between the ChefPad and the new Kitchen Screen, but at this point it’s too early to tell.

Later edit: The video has apparently removed by the user.
