If your wallet is not yet empty due to a Black Friday shopping spree, then you might want to take into consideration the next gadget that comes at a very affordable price.

Obviously, if you’re not looking for a tablet to add to your lineup of gadgets, then this device is probably not for you. The Archos 80 Cesium is a Windows 8.1 tablet that promises to offer decent specs at a very low price.

Basically, this is an entry-level slate that will make its debut in the United States and Europe in the coming weeks. Depending on region, it might cost more or less than $150 (€120), but Archos confirmed that this would be the slate’s suggested retail price.

Apart from the fact that it comes with Windows 8.1 operating system out of the box, Archos 80 Cesium is preloaded with some of the best apps and services from Microsoft, including Office, OneDrive, Music, Games and Video apps.

Speaking of Microsoft’s software, the Archos 80 Cesium comes with a 1-year Office 365 subscription, which is included in the tablet’s price. After that, you will have to pay another subscription if you plan to continue using Office 365 services.

Hardware-wise, Archos 80 Cesium is far from being impressive. The slate is equipped with a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor, a dual-core Intel HD Graphic (Gen7) graphics processing unit, as well as 1GB of RAM.

The tablet will be introduced in the United States and Europe

Although the tablet comes with 16GB of internal memory, that might not be enough for some users who like to store their music and photos on a slate. Luckily, Archos has them covered, as the Cesium 80 slate comes with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB), which should be more than enough for the heaviest use.

Moving on to screen, Archos 80 Cesium sports an 8-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (1280 x 800) pixels resolution.

Even though many iPad owners are using their tablets to take pictures, you will probably want to avoid doing that with the Archos 80 Cesium, as the slate features a sub-par 2-megapixel rear camera and a secondary VGA camera in the front.

When it comes to connectivity, Archos’ tablet offers all the standard options users might need including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack and micro HDMI.

It’s also worth mentioning that Archos 80 Cesium tablet is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery, which hasn’t been rated by the manufacturer yet.
