We reported earlier today that French company Archos will showcase three new mid-range Android smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2015 (MWC).

However, these won't be the only smartphones Archos will bring at the trade fair next week. The French company will have a more consistent presence at MWC by adding a high-end handset to its portfolio of Android smartphones.

Archos 50 Oxygen Plus is a new smartphone to be showcased at the company's booth next week and will eventually go on sale in March. The Oxygen Plus 50 will cost only £149.99 (€205 / $230) and it should be available in the UK and other European countries.

Although we've said that Archos 50 Oxygen Plus is a high-end smartphone, the device has a few features that belong to the mid-range category. Still, it's one of the best featured smartphones announced by Archos, though judging by the price tag you wouldn't think this is a high-end handset.

Anyway, let's see what Archos 50 Oxygen Plus has to offer in terms of specs. First of all, the smartphone features a 5-inch IPS LED-lit capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

Even though the display is supplied by JDI (Japan Display Inc.), one of the major manufacturers in the high-end LCD smartphones screen industry, the fact that it only supports HD resolution is a bit disappointing.

A 4G-enabled model will be launched in June

Furthermore, Archos 50 Oxygen Plus is 7.2mm thin and weighs only 125g (battery included). On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, a Mali 450MP4 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

It also packs 16GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB), as well as dual-SIM support. On the back, Archos 50 Oxygen Plus features an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and great selfies.

Unfortunately, Archos 50 Oxygen Plus will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, and there's little chance that it will get any major updates.

The good news is Archos has already confirmed it will release a 4G version of the smartphone in June 2015, which will be powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop.
