While many quests lead to great rewards, elemental stones and reinforcement potions to name but a few, Archlord is a massive grindfest when it comes to leveling up. Don’t expect to find any healers of dedicated support classes, as Archlord is a dedicated player versus player (PvP) title that features only damage dealers, with melee characters having a limited ability to tank. Therefore, you have to make a choice early, regarding your overall role in the grand scheme of things. You can take up arms either as a melee or a ranged attacker, with a second veiled option of becoming a single target damage dealer or an area of effect damage character. Taking extensive punishment without seeing an early demise is achieved through extra hitpoints received upon each level up, along with better armor and class specific abilities. This way melee characters are hardier, yet require constant healing
potion use, while ranged attackers are frail creatures that rely on dealing intense damage right off the start in hopes of kiting creatures around or killing them outright before they reach melee range. There are three class archetypes, available in a certain form for all races, with the warrior, ranged weapon attacker and magic available to pledge their loyalty to your cause.
PvE is centered on the 2500+ quests available to any player, ranging from the raiding of camps, killing certain monsters to full on large-scale raids and fights which will include much strategy and tactics. Quests rewards can be very useful to your character, and additional quests are unlocked as you level up and complete other quests as pre-requisites. When you are hunting, you should consider joining, or forming a party for the added benefit of auto looting and a nice bonus to your hit points and mana points. The world gets progressively more dangerous as you venture farther from the cities. If the monster is six or more levels below your own then you will not gain any experience from killing them. The greatest way to gain experience, be it a costly one, is to go around killing within dungeons. It adds up too about 200 mobs per level instead of thousands. Starting level six you’ll incur an experience debt upon every death, so be sure to watch your back. The PvP level limit is also 15, and from there on, you can initiate attack or be attacked yourself by other players.
Did you notice the golden arrows on your health and mana bar? Simply drag these to the position where you would like the pots to activate for free automatic usage of potions. The feature comes very handy, considering potions have cooldowns after use and are put on hold for a couple of seconds. Autoloot is performed in a somewhat different fashion, by pressing spacebar. Using this is a must, because you’ll be spending a lot of time grinding various creatures for experience, while gold and items that fall on the ground. Fight equal or lower creatures, especially in the beginning. You need to build up coin, to support Archlord’s potion-intensive playing style, so don't get in over your head with higher level mobs as the additional experience points usually aren’t worth it. Be aware that drop tables are spread out over levels. The same item type that particular level 10 creature type drops, can also be found on level 11 creatures, within tolerable limits.
