ArchBang 2014.02.26 RC, a simple GNU/Linux distribution which provides you with a lightweight Arch Linux system combined with the Openbox window manager, has been released and is ready for testing.

The new Release Candidate for the ArchBang Linux distribution is now ready for testing, and from what we're seeing, it's even faster than the previous versions. The developers have kept the desktop simple and straightforward.

Regular users migrating from other operating systems with more down-to-earth interfaces will not find the Openbox desktop environment too friendly, and sometimes it's going to be downright confusing.

The ArchBang aims to be as light as possible, but that goal comes with some compromises. It's not terribly pretty, but it's a lot better than many other operating systems that are twice its size.

ArchBand 2014.02.26 RC is not a large update, and it only comes with a few cosmetic changes and a couple of new features. For example, a new wallpaper has been implemented, a new theme called Orion Green has been added, the Deadbeef media player has been added, obkey has been removed, the entire Aw0ken icon set has been added, and new language packs for Norwegian and Polish have been implemented.

Download ArchBang 2012.07.02 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.

To get a much better understanding of what the system looks like, we prepared a short screenshot tour. Enjoy!
