Manjaro KDE 0.8.9 RC1, a Linux distribution based on well-tested snapshots of the Arch Linux repositories and 100% compatible with Arch, has been released and is available for testing.

Manjaro has become one of the most successful Arch-based distributions out there, and the KDE edition is just one of the many supported flavors.

“The KDE edition, featuring KDE 4.12.1, was designed to get all Windows users a new home here at Manjaro. We gave this edition a sleek new look to match look and feel to our other editions.

“With Turbulence you can customize your installation now even more. KDE-Connect will handle your Android phone. Share your files and even control your desktop with your pone. Everything you expect from KDE can be found on this install media,” said the developers in the official announcement.

They have also noted that Turbulence is a tool that can be used to customize various aspects of the operating system at first boot for the KDE desktop. Like many other components in the Manjaro space, this is unique to this particular distribution. Highlights of Manjaro KDE 0.8.9 RC1:

• A sleek gray graphical layout has been implemented; • Users are now allowed to easily select which Folders they want in the home directory; • Users can now select which theme they want for Kwin (KDE); • The distribution is now based on Linux kernel 3.10.27-1; • KDE 4.12.1 has been implemented; • VLC 2.1.2-3 has been added; • Users can now open system settings after they’ve run through everything else to set any last-minute details; • The latest proprietary drivers have been implemented.
