Arch Linux, an independently developed, i686/x86-64 general purpose GNU/Linux distribution that focuses on simplicity, minimalism, and code elegance, is now at version 2012.07.15.

According to the developers of Arch Linux, there is only one major change in this release: the AIF (the Arch Installation Framework) is no longer included but instead some simple install scripts are provided to aid in the installation process.

Users have been asked to only install images that have been signed and to verify the signature. Open a terminal and enter the following command:

pacman-key -v < iso-file >.sig

The Arch Installation Framework was dropped from the distribution because there wasn't anyone left to maintain it and further develop it.

More details about what install scripts can be run can be found here.
