ArcaBit is relatively an unknown company on the global market of antivirus software. The Warsaw-based software developer provides system protection solutions against malware, and its portfolio includes antivirus software for home users and server and Internet security protection. The company also issued a version for Pocket PCs that works on both Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0.

ArcaVir is the name of the application and the current edition is 2009, with a beta for the 2010 version to be released in early September. Full compatibility with Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 7, will be available, as well as improvements in scan speeds and load on the system. Building a larger malware database is among ArcaBit's priorities and the company has established cooperation agreements with some of the largest antivirus software developers: AVG, McAffe, Sophos and Symantec.

Version 2010 of ArcaVir will introduce a new interface designed for transparency and ease of use but also increased malware detection and software functionality. Users of the latest edition of ArcaVir antivirus will benefit from free upgrades to the next edition.

A new version of ArcaVir 2010 will be available for purchase on the USB flash drive – an innovative technology used to scan the computer resources from a USB flash drive, and to repair the operating system during failure. In order to achieve this the pendrive is equipped with its own operating system (Linux-based, named ArcaNix) to boot in in case of infected computers, and it gives you the possibility to scan every computer the device is hooked to.

These will probably be available in the same sizes as they were for the 2009 version, namely 2GB for ArcaVir Home Protection and 4GB for 5-machine license of ArcaVir System Protection. The current prices are $50 for the home version (covers five systems) and $79 for the business edition.

ArcaBit is trying to make its way into the global market of antivirus software and the 2010 release of its product is the cornerstone in this sense. Until the beta in early September you can download ArcaBit 2009 edition from Softpedia and put it to the test.
