ArcSoft, Inc. is a prominent provider of multimedia applications, and, as such, it constantly updates its products to support the latest technologies. One of the company's flagship tools, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre, recently reached version 5, boasting 3D-dedicated features (like support for Blu-ray 3D and native stereo 3D) and enhanced home theater experience.

In order to make sure this version meets the requirements of users worldwide and that their hardware will not encounter any difficulties in running the application, ArcSoft, Inc. has collaborated closely with AMD to make it compatible with a heterogeneous platform consisting of both CPU and GPU processors from AMD and NVIDIA.

Being optimized for AMD Radeon HD 6800 series graphics, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 will ensure smoother video playback as well as a high-quality home theater visual experience.

The latest version of this software also brings upgrades to ArcSoft’s own movie upscaling utility called SimHD, which will render the upscaled movie more vivid than ever due to its de-noising features, dynamic-lighting or frame rate conversion.

A nice touch brought by ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 is that, in addition to playing videos or DVDs from one's computer, it can also be used to access YouTube clips right within its interface, with a simple click of the mouse. Since it is meant to function as a universal player, it even supports videos located on an UPnP media server.

As for the aforementioned 3D-related functions, the most recent edition of ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre uses Sim3D, an innovative technology that will enable users to enjoy their 2D photo slideshows and DVD movies in 3D, while still being able to switch between 2D and 3D in real time.

More than that, Android phone owners will have the possibility to use their handsets to remotely control playback settings due to ArcSoft TotalMedia Remote (the company seems to already be working on iPhone and iPod touch versions).

Relying on ArcSoft's virtual surround sound and volume boost, as well as compatibility with a wide range of home theater systems and high-performance GPUs, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 indeed seems to satisfy the needs of all those enjoy watching movies in the comfort of their homes.
