ArcSoft, Inc., a worldwide leading provider of innovative mobile multimedia technologies and applications, announced today the launch of its ArcSoft PowerMobia for Android, a software-based multimedia solution that has been designed for Google's operating system for mobile phones.

ArcSoft's PowerMobia for Android has been built around Google’s Android Software Development Kit (SDK), and comes as a software solution meant to fulfill all multimedia needs of any Android device maker. The new software solution sports a series of applications and software libraries that work perfectly on the Android platform. The list would include Camera with advanced capture technologies, Media Gallery with social network connectivity, Photo Workshop to edit photos, Video Player and PC Converter to convert and playback media files, Streaming Video Player to playback online content, Video Editor, and more.

“The performance of PowerMobia for Android is highly competitive and it provides plus-one features on the default platform,” said David Cao, ArcSoft’s VP and General Manager of Mobile Group. “It helps mobile phone manufacturers design their products while shortening development time by providing both fundamental and advanced functions.”

The new ArcSoft PowerMobia for Android features powerful multimedia software components in compliance with OpenMax standard, multimedia codecs able to provide leveraged performance and more features compared to Android's default ones, pre and post processors and special effects for audio, video and images, advanced capture technologies, end-to-end applications (including Camera, Media Gallery, Photo Workshop, Video Editor, Local and Streaming Media Player), as well as the ArcSoft PowerMobia UI Engine, which can provide 2D/3D UI effects and animations.

The company, a provider of solutions that enhance the features, performance, and user experience of mobile phones and other consumer electronic devices, also announced that it would showcase its new technologies and the ArcSoft PowerMobia for Android at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
