Minecraft celebrates April Fools by adding love

As such, developer Mojang decided to celebrate April Fools by thinking long and hard at the role Minecraft has in the lives of millions of people from all around the world, and use that role to promote love and healthy relationships.

According to the official website, Mojang wants to promote a caring attitude among Minecraft players and, as such, it's released snapshot update 15w14a, to promote patch 1.10 that's called "The Love and Hugs Update."

"We are in a very unique position to make a difference to the world and we have decided to accept this new role in society. We’ve thought long and hard about this, but we finally feel happy to announce that we are now changing the general direction of the game Minecraft. Starting from the next update we will be focusing on the things that make life worth living, promoting healthy relationships with the environment and its inhabitants," the studio explains.

Lots of major changes are live in the game

The snapshot removes the ability to harm other creatures, eliminates health and hunger, and adds a new Love meter that fills up the more you help others. Survival mode is now called "Existence" and a lot of animals have been transformed in various ways, like pigs that can now climb on walls.

Monsters are now called inhabitants and the iconic Creepers no longer explore. Rain no longer happens, as it upsets players, while trading has been rebalanced.
