So you have a longer weekend due to Labor Day on Monday? The AppStore has some new apps and games with a limited-time pricing. All of these are just $0.99 (€0.75).

The AppStore editors have divided the new selection in just two categories. The first will get you apps from categories like Education, Music, Photo&Video and Business and the second one is a selection of good games to keep you busy for the next few days.

When it comes to apps, you will find some interesting choices. One of those you may want to get is PDFpen Scan+. The first reason is that the regular price for this one is $6.99 (€5.31) and now you can get it at a fraction of the cost.

This app is a pdf factory in your pocket. You can scan a document with your camera, crop it, adjust the resolution and contrast and then OCR it. PDFpen Scan+ is made by the developers over at Smile Software so you know it is just as good as apps like TextExpander or PDFpen for Mac. The key for this app is its optical character recognition. You can actually import documents from other apps or servers and turn them into searchable text files.

Another great one is Sky Guide. This app has won the Apple Design Award in 2014. Get it installed, open the app and point it to the sky. The app will automatically align itself to the stars using your coordinates with no set-up required. You can purchase the Satellites Map and you will see when a certain satellite is passing above you. Sky Guide has high-resolution photos with the stars you're watching and great historical information for all of them. Everything lays down in front of you with some great music composed for the app.

Music makers will want to get this next app. Audiobus has a limited 80 percent discount as part of this promotion. This app works best on your iPad because the touch targets are bigger, but you can surely use your iPhone to make some cool connections. Audiobus takes the mobile music composing to the next level because it can interconnect over 400 music apps with its virtual cables. For example, you could be playing drums in one app, guitar in GarageBand and record them in a third app on the same device.

There are some awesome games in this selection as well. You might want to try a classic like RayMan Fiesta Run, Disney's Castle of Illusion or a new favorite, VVVVVV.
