Whether Apple will use Intel processors for a new series of MiniMac and PowerPC starting from 2006 and 2007 is still a subject of speculation, but what we know for a fact is that CNET News.com managed to turn a seemingly quiet weekend into a very exciting one.
CNET News.com is assuring us that Jobs will announce tomorrow the shift towards Intel processors, but the truth of the matter is that things are not that simple.
As mentioned by CNET News,
the disputes between IBM and Apple concerning the number of processors IBM is able to deliver for the company in Cupertino have been going on for quite some time now.
However, there's a long way between some minor disagreements and the decision to dump IBM for. Obviously, anything's possible, and seeing that all the major characters involved in this day-time drama, Apple, IBM and Intel, restrained from giving any comments, the rumors will be at an all time high until Jobs decides to make an official statement.
The theories according to which Apple and Intel are preparing other equipments to be fitted with Intel processors (and iPod, a device even more advanced than iPod and others) are already beginning to spread around.
But what if Jobs publicly announces tomorrow that Mac OS X will run on Intel processors? And that it will work together with Intel in order to obtain a version of the Mac OS X which will be compatible with any PC endowed with an Intel?
Anyway, we don't know just how many of you were anxious to listen to Jobs' speech tomorrow, but we're sure that this article will raise your interest as well, adding you to the already huge list of people curious about what's going to happen.
Until then, all we can do is speculate.
What do you think Jobs's statement will be?
